Themistoklis Tsatalas

Tsatalas Themistoklis is a member of the Teaching Staff of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science at the University of Thessaly since January 2021. He received his BSc in Physical Education and Sports Science from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2002), his MSc degree from the interdepartmental Program “Human Performance and Health” (2005) and his PhD in Biomechanics from the interdepartmental Program "Exercise and Quality of Life" (2011). During his Doctoral studies (2007-2011) he received a scholarship from Institute for Research and Technology of Thessaly (IRETETH), Hellas (CERTH). He has teaching experience since 2015 as a part time lecturer or teaching fellow in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science at the University of Thessaly (undergraduate and postgraduate level) and the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Applied Sciences of Thessaly, Greece (undergraduate level). He also teaches since 2014 at the Hellenic Non-Commissioned Officer Army Academy in Trikala, Greece. He received a Post-doctoral scholarship from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2011-2012) and a Post-doctoral scholarship from University of Thessaly funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (2017-2020). He is currently coordinator of two National research projects funded by General Secretariat for Research and Technology (2018-2022) and has also participated as supporting personnel in 17 National and European research projects. He has published 17 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, 1 book chapter and presented more than 80 oral and poster presentations in national and international congresses. His current research interests include biomechanics of individuals with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, mechanical and physiological adaptations following eccentric exercise and the development of a lever-propelled training and testing system for wheelchair users and of a wearable gait monitoring system for patients with Cerebral Palsy.
